Tony Prabowo (born in Malang , East Java , 1956 ) is an Indonesian National musician. His name is known as an instrumental music composer who combines elements of Indonesian traditional music with international music. Tony is also one of the curators at Komunitas Salihara. He studied music under the guidance of composer Slamet Abdul Sjukur. As a composer, he has frequently collaborated with artists from the disciplines of theater, film, dance and literature. ' Fairy Tales Before Sleep ( 1992 ) for sopranos and mixed ensembles, inspired by the poetry of Goenawan Mohamad. This work in 1996, was played in Jakarta and the Netherlands. This work is also featured by The New Juilliard Ensemble at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, New York, United States. Autumnal Steps ( 1996), a complete orchestral work, premiered by The New Juiliard Ensemble, Orchestra ISI Yogyakarta and in 1997 by the Seattle Creative Orchestra. Requiem for Strings (1998), played by Deutsche Kammerphilharmonic Bremen in Jakarta , and in 1999 by Fellows of the Tanglewood Music Center at the Festival of Contemporary Music, Tanglewood. In 2005 , Requiem for Strings was performed by The Hague National Orchestra, Netherlands.
